LaTeX Math Conflicts
...
If using both our ‘LaTex and MathJax' plugin and 'LaTeX Math’ by Appfire our existing LaTeX Block Macros will display the following error.
...
This error message is from ‘LaTeX Math’ by Appfire and is displayed due to a conflict between our apps. Additionally, Appfire will log the same error in the 'atlassian-confluence.log’ file.
Impact
This issue (as far as we can tell) only affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). We have replicated this issue on both RHEL-8.6 and RHEL-9. From our testing, we know this issue does not affect Ubuntu 20.04.
Solution
In our testing, uninstalling 'LaTeX Math’ by Appfire and restarting Confluence resolves this issue.
Disabling LaTeX Math Modules
Disabling the following LaTeX Math Modules allowed both ‘LaTex and MathJax' plugin and 'LaTeX Math’ to be run simultaneously:
Resources for the editor (editor_latexmath)
Resources for editor content (editor_content_latexmath)
Resources for view content (view_content_latexmath)
Add Math Inline macro shortcut (addinlineShortcut)
Add Math Block macro shortcut (addblockShortcut)
Inline MathJax ‘Unknown Macro’
Due to a known Confluence bug, Macros which include a curly bracket ‘{' will be displayed incorrectly during edit, showing 'Unknown Macro’. See here fore more details:
Example
Macro Edit Dialog | Page Edit Screen | Page View |
---|---|---|
Note: This only affects macros in the Edit view and will not impact how macros are rendered on the page when viewed.
