IN PROGRESS

JEMHC can notify Slack Channels or HipChat Rooms when messages are received and sent, this provide a view of current activity - and a sense of well-being that all mail services are working!

JEMHC has two categories of notifications, Global and Project. Global notifications relate to JEMHC activities (mail forwarded etc), Project notifications relate to inbound email processing and outbound email notifications.

Integrating HipChat notifications will provide valuable feedback as to when messages come in (validating JEMHC is successfully retrieving mail from your mailbox) and when email notifications are sent out (validating when JIRA is generating webhooks - without webhooks enabled in your JIRA instance, no outbound notifications will occur. Eg: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-43836

Creating a HipChat Connection

  1. In order to receive HipChat Auditing Notifications, you need to have a HipChat Connection Set. If you haven't already, follow this How-To page.

Setting up HipChat Auditing Notifications

  1. Navigate to the JEMHC Auditing tab:
  2. Select HipChat Notifications:
  3. Create a new notification context (this scopes events that relate to given projects, to given rooms):
  4. Select the HipChat Connection and Room. Pick your scope, Global will be specific to JEMHC system events, or you may want to configure for Project Issue and Notification related notifications.
  5. Scroll down to control what system notifications are sent there:
  6. Click the Test Configuration button to send a test message, confirmation of send will be shown at the top of the Wizard:

and the message will be in the HipChat room:

  7. All done, you can test the configuration by performing JEMHCloud operations, e.g. run a JEMH Cloud → Test Case.
