Addressing duplicate plan usage notification problems
In order to fix a problem affecting our customers where they would receive duplicate notifications when exceeding their configured plan usage limit, we’ve made some changes.
Unfortunately, this fix requires us to send the notifications one more time, but the duplicates will stop being sent. Going forwards, plan usage notifications will be sent once per month (or per ‘limit’, see below) as intended.
New plan usage notification capability
You can now configure multiple plan usage thresholds. Each time a threshold is crossed, a notification will be sent (once, per threshold, per month). This setting can be found at Licensing > System Notifications > Usage notification warning thresholds (%).
More information on configuring multiple usage notification thresholds can be found at Usage notification warning thresholds (%).
What changed
As previously announced in December, to remove a single point of failure between availability zones we’ve added an additional IP address for JEMHC outbound connections.
Impact
Most customers who don’t have custom firewall configurations will not be impacted. If you have firewall rules to restrict connections from the historic 54.210.55.45 address, then mail connections (inbound and outbound) may start failing, causing handlers /connections to go offline seemingly randomly. You will need to update your firewall settings to allow the new secondary 54.210.87.155 address.
