Inbound Message Handlers
Once a Message Source has been added you will then need to create a Message Handler. Message Handlers are used to poll and send mail from the Message Source to the configured Profile for processing.
Creating a Mail Handler
Go to JEMHC > Messaging > Message Handlers and press Create.
Fill in the form by selecting the relevant Message Source and Profile.
Then press Save. This will then display the newly created Message Handler.
Message Handler functions
Once the Message Handler has been created there will some functions that can be used with the Message Handler. These functions are:
Poll
This will attempt to find and process any new messages that are found within the configured Message Source. If successful you see a similar report to the following:
Edit
This will open the Edit Message Handler form where you can edit the details the of the Message Handler.
Copy
This will open the Copy Message Handler form where you are able to create a duplicate of this Message Handler.
Delete
This will remove the Message Handler. This will result in no new messages being polled.
Poll all Handlers
This will attempt to poll all message Handlers at the same time. If successful it will display a report with all of the messages that have been polled.
Create Message Handler form Options
Below is the form that needs to be filled in to create a new Message Handler.
Name
This is the name that the Message Handler will be given.
Message Source
This is the Message Source that the Message Handler will poll mail from.
Profile
The Profile that will be used to process the mail that is polled by this Message Handler.
Scheduling Enabled
This will enable scheduled retrieval and processing of messages. If disabled, the mail will need to be polled manually by pressing the Poll button for this Message Handler.
Poll Interval
Defines how often JEMHCloud should poll the message source for new message(minutes). Leave blank for default which is one minute intervals.
Maintenance Threshold Percentage
The lower the configured percentage, the more sensitive the handler will be, increasing the chance of maintenance errors causing the handler to block
This threshold defines the percentage that the message handler will block after the total inbound maintenance usage for the current month reaches (or exceeds) the configured percentage of plan usage.
When mail polling causes maintenance in (E.g. due to non-catch email problems), the configured threshold will block the handler to prevent excessive plan consumption for failing mail.
E.g. When using the default configured 10% , a host on a plan with 20000 message count.
When the total maintenance count exceeds the 10% (In this case, after 2000 maintenance messages), the configured handler will block. The handler block system notification will be sent, indicating the maintenance threshold percentage has been exceeded.
Increasing the maintenance threshold limit after a handler block
If your handler has recently blocked and your handler block notification indicated “Inbound maintenance count exceeded”, the next maintenance message after releasing the handler block will cause the handler to block again.
The main fix is to diagnose what is causing the maintenance messages (E.g. Non catch email) and to resolve the configuration issues.
Additionally, you can increase your handler threshold percentage temporarily to test changes to reduce the number of maintenance messages. This threshold count is reset monthly, but your configured percentage will not be changed.
