Microsoft 365 Smart Folder selection

Message Sources using the recent Microsoft 365 (Graph) connection type benefit from super-easy folder selection.

For both new and existing connections, simply click the Navigate Folders link that will be visible when the OAuth process has taken place. A convenient folder selection UI will appear, allowing navigation of folder and sub folders.

When saving your configuration, the folder ID is stored.

Viewing Folder Names

In Messaging > Message Sources, the selected folder is displayed

  • If no folder is selected, the default folder (Inbox) will be used:

  • If a folder is selected, the folder name is attempted to be retrieved, and is shown above the stored folder ID:

  • If a folder is selected, but the name cannot be found, the following is shown:

Why does my selected folder name not appear?

Due to limitations with the Microsoft Graph API, it is not possible to search for folder names of nested sub folders.

To explain what this means, below is an example of the nested sub folder being used.

The limit for Microsoft Graph folder requests is 2, so any folders inside the second level are unable to be searched for to find the folder name. In this example, only Inbox and ANewFolder names can be found when saving configuration.

Any sub folders deeper than 2 nested levels will store the folder ID, but the name cannot be shown on the configuration screen.

Can I still find out the name of the folder used in my configuration?

If you wish to view the selected folder, edit the configuration, selecting ‘Navigate Folders’ to begin searching for your selected (highlighted) folder.

If you still require the folder name to appear, the alternative is to move your existing folder into the top 2 levels of your mailbox.

Note: Creating a new folder in the top 2 levels will create a new folder with a new ID, which will require you to edit your configuration, selecting the new folder.
