Jira's Inbound Mail Processing fails due to Basic Authentication Deprecation

Summary

Since 1st of October 2022 Basic Authentication (username/password) in Microsoft 365 has begun to be disabled regardless of usage. Additionally Gmail has also dropped basic authentication since 30th of May 2022. As a result Inbound Mail processing may halt due to failures to authenticate.

To be clear, Jira is responsible for the definition/connectivity of mail hosts. When a mail has been successfully retrieved, then JEMH is invoked (by Jira), and at his point our support scope begins.

This problem area is not in our support scope. Problems with the Jira platform should be directed to support.atlassian.com. We try to help and offer suggestions as our support is best effort.
