Event Listener Group Restriction and Conditions

Context

The Event Listener has Project Mappings each of which identifies a particular project.  There are two issue tabs, one for Non-JIRA notifications and one for JIRA notifications.  In the JIRA notification section, there are the following options:

  • Group Restriction

  • Group Restriction Condition

Group Restriction

The Group Restriction identifies a JIRA user group that if supplied only JIRA account holders with that group will be notified, subject to conditions:

Group Restriction Conditions

This option controls the action to take if there is a group match above (i.e. it was defined, and matched a given user recipient – according to the notification scheme).  The following are available options:

  1. Must have Group to notify

  2. Must NOT have Group to notify

  3. Treat user with Group as non-JIRA

Must have Group to notify

If the Group Restriction was specified, JIRA account holders must be a member of the group in order to be notified through the JIRA notification tab Event Selection.  All other JIRA account holders who are not a member of the Group Restriction will receive NO notifications.

Must NOT have Group to notify

If the Group Restriction was specified, JIRA account holders must not be a member of the group in order to be notified through the JIRA notification tab Event Selection.  All other JIRA account holders who are a member of the Group Restriction will receive NO notifications.

Treat user with Group as non-JIRA

If the Group Restriction was specified, JIRA account holders with a member of the group in order to be notified through the NON-JIRA notification tab Event Selection.  This choice allows a sparse event selection that may be more suitable to a subset of users interested in peripheral notifications rather than all events.  All other JIRA account holders who are not a member of the Group Restriction will notified through the JIRA notification tab Event Selection.
