Email Threading behaviour changes

What is changing?

This change removes the Email Threading radio button and migrates it's sub options in it’s place.

Related to: Understand how Issue association works | Email threading. The previous Email Threading option found in your Profile > Project Mapping > Pre-Processing > Email Threading and Profile > Project Mapping > Rule > Pre-Processing will be removed as this option is not necessary on its own.

Both In-Reply-To and References when enabled will drive Original Issue Key and Message ID association based on the header related to the enabled check boxes.

Behaviour Changes

  1. If both In-Reply-To and References header options are enabled then In-Reply-To option will take precedence.

  2. Message ID Embedded Issue Key will now take precedence over Original Issue Key and Message ID association

  3. If both options are disabled then previously we would depend on the main checkbox Email Threadingcheckbox however this property has been removed. Now the options: Use References Header checkbox and Use In-Reply-To Header checkbox will drive Email Threading.

Impact

There will be no impact for these changes.

If you have previously only enabled the Email Threading and none of the sub options Use References Header checkbox and Use In-Reply-To Header then both options will be enabled. Conversely if you had Email Threading disabled then the two aforementioned options will now be set to disabled.

What do I need to do?

There are no changes required on your end as this will be automated. If you do not wish for both options to be enabled, you will need to manually change and disable the association headers you do not wish to use.
