Improvements to automatically retry offline connections
Behaviour changes
Previously, if a connection went offline, the only indication would be a System Notification sent after 1 hour of being offline. This would require manually re-enabling the connection from our app.
Now, if a connection (Mail Source or Message Outbound) goes Offline, we will make numerous attempts to re-enable the connection.https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JEMHC/pages/3585409027/Why+JEMHC+Message+Sources+and+Mail+Handlers+block#Enabling-a-blocked-Source%2FOutbound-Connection explains the frequency of these attempts depending on how long the connection has been offline for.
What this means
If you experience intermittent issues with Mail Source or Message Outbound connections going offline, these recent changes will help automate re-establishing a connection to minimise downtime for email polling or sending notifications.
You will still receive notifications if the connection is offline for more than one hour. Please see our page about Mail Source and Message Outbound connections for further information on why errors may occur: https://thepluginpeople.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JEMHC/pages/3585409027/Why+JEMHC+Message+Sources+and+Mail+Handlers+block#Enabling-a-blocked-Source%2FOutbound-Connection
